Over 43% of Kinora members self-identify as Carers, so by partnering with Carers SA, we take a look at the Carer Star process; the assessment tool that Carers SA and Carer Gateway organisations around Australia use to facilitate Carers accessing support services.
The Carer Star process is a tool for the staff at Carers SA and the Carers themselves to get an understanding of their everyday commitments and how they are functioning and feeling in seven different areas of their lives.
The Carer Star process is then used to figure out the best ways to support the Carer in their caring role and with any other goals they may identify through the process. It is a holistic way of looking at the whole person and not just the caring role they take on, which can sometimes dominate priorities.
